Linden Child Anxiety Recovery Workshops
Our 2012 Retreat and Workshop Program now also includes a program of recovery for anxious children aged 7-18.
The workshop is for children experiencing:
- Separation anxiety
- School phobia
- Generalised anxiety disorder
- Disturbing thoughts – (About death, illness etc)
- Panic attacks
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Agoraphobia/social phobia
- Fear of vomiting, death, being alone etc
- Eating disorders
- Anxiety related insomnia
- Anxiety related digestive issues –(Abdominal Migraine, IBS etc.)
- Trichotillomania – (Hair pulling)
The Workshop has been developed for parents and carers of children with anxiety conditions but not for the children themselves and there’s a sound reason why they aren’t included.
Our experience over the last 13 years helping over 146,000 sufferers of all ages to recover is that dealing with the young person directly, in the first instance, presents more problems than solutions and that working with the child’s parents or carer expedites and secures the child’ recovery much more effectively.
The Workshop format
During this 1 day Workshop program, parents and carers of children with a variety of anxiety conditions, will be guided through a simple process of:
- Reassurance – You will learn just how common high anxiety is and why people develop these conditions. You will also meet other people with anxious children and have the opportunity to ‘exchange notes’ whilst our Lead Educator provides you with support and solutions.
- Education – You will learn what anxiety really is, how it developed in your child, what the symptoms mean, how to deal with the symptoms and thoughts your child experiences, AND how the cure works in a simple and practical format
- Support – You and your child will have continuing access to our qualified and experienced support staff during and after the Retreat program for up to one year. It won’t take a year to cure your child’s anxiety but it’s there if you need it.
Recovery isn’t about exercises, keeping notes, endless counselling or exposure therapy. It’s certainly not about CBT, EFT, relaxation or medication. Full and permanent recovery is about simple to implement daily structure and a little effort (but not much).
Child anxiety is actually much simpler to treat than adult anxiety. Why?
Our experience has shown us that despite a child’s inability to intellectualise their condition effectively based on the life experience we, as adults, have, they are incredibly compliant when guided by an adult; as our program is dependent on compliance and not, necessarily, any knowledge of the program structure or even the science behind it, when children are guided through the process, they don’t even notice they are doing a program; they just, naturally, become less anxious.
The most wonderful feature of The Linden Method Program is that, at its core, it’s just a ‘great way to lead your life’ and children, especially, feel invigorated and excited by the activities they enjoy as part of the program format. Where once there was anxiety, there is suddenly fun and fulfilment.
You will find that implementing the program into yours and your children’s lives will, not only, benefit your child but also the rest of your family if you decide to get them involved.
The program isn’t about psychological practice, it’s about generating fulfilment in every aspect of your child’s life, that they will carry through to adulthood and along the way, they will permanently eliminate the anxiety that holds them back now and could have impacted their future.
The Linden Method material
You will also receive the full Linden Method Child Anxiety Edition Pack and some extra materials to assist you and your child during the program and recovery process.
Support & Guidance
You will receive up to 12 months unlimited guidance by email or phone, for both you and your child, should you require it. It’s all very simple but if you need us, we are at the end of an email or phone to guide or reassure you.
The Venue
You will come to The Elms Retreat and Spa in rural Worcestershire, where you will experience the most homely, inviting environment.
You can take advantage of all the hotel facilities during your day, so that you too relax, free from the stress that we know is created by caring for an anxious child.
Our Lead Educator will present the Workshop sessions with regular breaks where refreshments and food will be provided by the hotel’s award winning chef and staff.
